OUR ORIGIN
It started with a simple belief.
Tamil theatre is evolving.
It just needs a home.
A new generation of artists is emerging.
Audiences are becoming more curious.
Stories are crossing languages, forms, and borders.
And Singapore is ready.
Agam Theatre Lab was created to be that home.
A space where artists could experiment.
Where stories could breathe.
Where Tamil theatre could grow without compromise.
Building from the ground up
In Singapore, opportunities for Tamil theatre were limited.
Stages were borrowed.
Time was short.
Voices were often unheard.
So Agam built its own space
The Theatre Lab
Singapore’s first independent blackbox dedicated to Tamil theatre.
From there, something began to shift.
A community formed.
New artists emerged.
Audiences started returning and growing.
When a platform becomes a movement
As the work deepened, one question became clear:
What if this didn’t stay local?
What if Singapore became a meeting point for the world?
And that is where Nadagamic began.
The birth of Nadagamic
In August 2026, Agam Theatre Lab presents
Nadagamic, Singapore International Tamil Theatre Festival
An 11-day gathering of artists, ideas, and audiences
from Singapore and across the world.
Not just a festival. But a platform for exchange, collaboration, and POSSIBILITY.
Our Festival Vision

VISION
& MISSION

The meaning behind the name
Rooted in Nadagam
(Tamil theatre traditions)
Dynamic in form and spirit (contemporary, experimental, evolving)
And it is not static.
It is movement.
It is evolution.
It is theatre that travels, transforms, and speaks outward.
From the heart.
In motion.
To the world.
More than a festival
Through Nadagamic, Agam is building an ecosystem:
Mainstage productions.
Blackbox experiments.
Workshops for children and practitioners.
Forums that shape the future.
Outreach that brings theatre beyond the stage.
One vision. Many entry points.
Who we are building for
For Tamil-speaking communities.
For curious new audiences.
For young people discovering their voice.
For artists ready to cross borders.
