M.V.Bhaskar

Bhaskar is a lawyer by profession prominent in the media and entertainment industry. His theatre journey began as late as 2017 doing roles off and on. He became active in theatre post the covid after his interesting portrayal as “chitapoo” in the play “Veenaiadi Nee Enakku”. Ever since he has been nicknamed as “Chitapoo” amongst many in the drama circle. His incisive passion for theatre came to the forefront when he co-founded his troupe, “ThRee” along with Lavanaya Venugopal, a prominent theatre artiste herself.  “Paayum Oli” was the inaugural play for his own troupe “ThRee” and went on to become the most staged and talked about play of all the plays that inaugurated in Kodai Nadaga Vizha 2023. Bhaskar was awarded the best actor for his role Shatruk Ram in the play by the prestigious Myalapore Academy. ThRee’s second production, “Kaatchi Pizhaigalo” had amassed 8 awards in the Kodai Nadaga Vizha 2024 including an award for Bhaskar in the Best Actor category. The most prestigious and lavish production for three was the bio play on M.S.Subbulakshmi, “Kaatriniley Varum Geetham” which was a run-away success of 2024. Bhaskar’s performance as Sadashivam was highly talked about and appreciated. If the Chitappoo of Veenaiadi Nee Enakku is remembered for the innocence portrayed and made him popular, his performance in Kaatriniley Varum Geetham brought Sadasivam into life. His other major plays include among others Athithi, Vinodaya Chittam, Raguramam and ICU. His performance as Doctor Nagesh in ICU, a role that the veteran T D Soundarajan made his own was so well appreciated by the veteran himself. Getting compliments from the great artist himself is something Bhaskar recalls as his moment of pride in Tamil Theatre. His recent portrayal as Parthiban in Dummies Drama’s Kapithwaja was highly talked about for the matured and measured performance throughout the play. Despite a hectic professional commitment, Bhaskar has managed to balance an equally demanding schedule as actor and producer in Tamil theatre. His other passions include Cricket and Cinema. Bhaskar has also acted in 5 Tamil Films so far.
